swatch: city scale
as you may have noticed, i love textures. k:designs has been a great avenue for me to fulfill this love and post about interesting building skins. yet, i've found that "swatches" can go beyond the building. cities have swatches too - in their architecture, landscape, food, lifestyle - these textures make up the identity of a city. so, i've decide to take these city scale swatches over to k:plays, where my fondness of travel and exploring new cities can encompass more than just architecture. head on over to k:plays to see the clips from my first city adventure in newport beach. as for building typography and skin studies, you can still catch them here on k:designs. hopefully there will be some tag-team opportunities for "swatches" in the future!

tag team: livestrong
today k:designs is tag teaming with k:plays to feature livestrong...
I just get a great feeling from this space. Lots of warmth with the clean-lined minimal wood cubes, yet it is still very clearly warehouse. gotta love a great concrete floor too!

featured on: olive & emerald
i was beyond excited to get my very first feature on a blog today! kerry scott, creative master behind olive & emerald, has a knack for tuning into people's personal style. and this comes in very handy when designing stationary for something as personal as a wedding (you can check out some of her work here). she certainly nailed my style on this one - i love everything about this!

render: istanbul footbridge
footbridge design competition on fatih vatan street
istanbul, turkey
i'm loving the look of this rendering by lea invent...featuring only the vegetation and new footbridge and in color - it really pops with the rest of the context grayed out and a nice fog-like blurring in the distance. very effective.

profile: carbon nation
here's a sneak peek of carbon nation, the movie! i got wind of this through a friend of a friend of the producer... and i can think of a few people (in my office, eh hem!) that don't believe in climate change. we might try and set up a showing in town for C4 - maybe i should invite them!

swatch: argos
Argos Electrical Generator by Felipe Gonzalez-Pacheco
loving the texture on this - almost like a geometric interpretation of a basket weave. and goes to show that even "insignificant" buildings like a generator room can have design appeal.
