pairings: bag + chair

can't you picture this purse by xanath lammoglia slung over this chair by kartell?

(hint: look careful at the kartell chair... can you see the silhouettes of the series 7 by jacobsen, the tulip by saarinen, and eiffel chair by eames ... isn't that cool?!)

eames wear t-shirt by me!

well, now that christmas is over i can spill the beans on all my top secret surprises...starting with this eames shirt for b.  i took a screen printing class and couldn't be more happy with how it turned out.  you can check out the process soon over at k:creates.  i can't stop thinking about all the possibilities for screen printing (next up cork, yep, cork) ... maybe i will even develop a whole 'when i grow up' line.... anyone for saarinen?  mies?  kahn?  :-)  happy screen printing everyone!

b just shared this video with me.... a 16 minute clip of marilyn neuhart discussing her new book "the story of eames furniture".  i can't wait to make this book a part of my home library....

swatch: brian everett's home

b got me into mid-century design and of course the eames' sealed the deal for me.  so i was pretty much in love when i stumbled upon this photo.  one look and said to myself, "brian everett, meet your new best friend - me."  once i started reading the article... he is an industrial designer with a line for CB2, his wife is an architect who shares his love for mid-century craft... i knew we were kindred spirits. tack on flor tiles in the basement and a hot pink table on the patio and well, we are practically friends for life.

covet: eames pillow

as many of you know, i am currently obsessed with the magic of mid-century designers ray & charles eames.  just discovered these pillows by inhabit.  great silhouettes, cool colors, also love that the name of the pillow is the year the chair was released.  hey, if i can't have an eames lounge chair, i figure having pillow of one sitting on my couch is the next best option.

I'm reading An Eames Primer and am fully in awe of this "power couple".  Beyond their contributions to architecture (Case Study House #8), furniture (Eames Lounge Chair) and other mediums such as film, this book gives insight to their personal relationship.  Ray & Charles, together, were purely magic in both the personal and professional realms.

Best book I have read in a long long time - can hardly put it down...
