with my family unable to travel for the wedding, our options for our ideal "raw urban venue" are sparse...if they even exist at all.  you see, if you want a wedding on the central coast you have two options:  ranch or winery.  thats why i just about jumped out of my seat when i saw this modern-looking tasting room at linne calodo winery.  sadly, they can't accommodate even the smallest of weddings.  and our search continues...

charger's staduim master plan

turning the idea of a "civic center" inside out, this master plan for the san diego charger's new stadium by de bartolo + rimanic aims to celebrate san diego's beautiful climate, neighborhoods and outdoor space as well as the stadium.  my most favorite part of the design is the concept behind the stadium itself... it's the charger's logo in 3D.  i think this will compliment predock's petco park and will be a great iconic statement for america's finest city - can't wait to go catch a game!

i recently caught wind of the fab lab in san diego.  MIT & Heads on Fire collaborated in 2007 to create an advanced digital design and fabrication studio.  A creative outlet for students and the community, the Fab Lab gives people the tools to create..well, 'almost anything'!  i love the whole idea behind this - are they hiring?

last week i saw that inhabitat was launching a design competition with people towels.  this little graphic design charrette is aimed at encouraging people to use a resuable cloth towel instead of paper towels.  a little 9x9 hand towel has a pretty big impact when you consider it takes 51,000 trees to offset the amount of paper towels used in ONE day.

ok, this dog shop in osaka, japan has got to be the coolest dog store ever!  on top of the minimalist design, it has asweet dog door (see photo above) that leads straight to a outdoor dog run.  while you're there, be sure to pick up a travel water dish (of the minimalist variety)... you'll need it for the second half of this tag team over at k:plays...

stenciling is like the quick and easy version of screen printing.  and this mid-century modern furniture stencil by stencil1 is even quicker and easier because the design is already done.  perfect vector images turned stencil.  i could have lots of fun with these....
